Manufacturing Process — From Winding to Dispatch
The quality of a cast resin dry-type transformer is determined in the manufacturing process. The following images document the actual production steps at Zhongxin General’s Sichuan facility.
Low-Voltage Foil Winding

The low-voltage winding adopts a foil winding structure, solving the axial helical angle problem during wire winding and achieving better ampere-turn balance. High-quality copper foil is wound by automatic foil winding machine. The LV output copper busbars are connected to the foil winding using argon-protected welding, ensuring high welding quality and minimal contact resistance — critical for reliable delivery of the 1,804 A rated LV current. DMD epoxy resin pre-impregnated cloth is used between winding layers.
Epoxy Vacuum Casting & Curing


The high-voltage winding is vacuum-cast with filled epoxy resin — a process that greatly reduces partial discharge and improves coil electrical strength. Glass fiber mesh plates reinforce the inner and outer walls of the HV winding, enhancing mechanical strength and short-circuit withstand capability. The coils never crack under normal service conditions. After casting, all coils are cured in a controlled hot-air oven for integral forming.
HV Winding Demoulding

Following completion of the curing cycle, the HV epoxy cast winding is demoulded. The finished coil surface shows the clean, void-free resin encapsulation that gives SCB-series transformers their flame-retardant, fire-proof, explosion-proof, maintenance-free, pollution-free characteristics.
Final Assembly

Final assembly integrates the iron core and HV/LV coil assemblies, installs structural clamping components, fits the temperature control system and cooling fans, and makes all busbar and terminal connections. This stage is performed by experienced senior technicians. The iron core uses imported high-quality cold-rolled silicon steel sheets with a five-stage full-oblique joint structure, bound with F-class non-woven tape and surface-coated with epoxy resin to reduce no-load loss, no-load current, and core noise.
Key Features — 1250 kVA Cast Resin Dry-Type Transformer
Excellent insulation performance, reliable and stable operation. The epoxy vacuum-cast HV winding, combined with glass fiber reinforcement, delivers superior dielectric strength and partial discharge performance. The coils never crack.
Low no-load loss and remarkable energy saving effects. The iron core uses high-permeability, high-quality cold-rolled grain-oriented silicon steel sheets, significantly reducing no-load loss and no-load current. The surface coating provides moisture and rust protection while reducing noise. Grade 1 efficiency versions (GB 20052-2024) exceed the requirements of EU Commission Regulation No. 548/2014 and its 2019/1783 amendment.
Low partial discharge and long service life. Vacuum casting with filled epoxy resin virtually eliminates partial discharge, extending the transformer’s operating life to 30 years or more under normal service conditions.
Strong resistance to sudden short circuits and grid impacts. Five-stage full-oblique core joint structure and fiberglass-reinforced epoxy winding encapsulation provide exceptional short-circuit withstand capability.
Intelligent temperature monitoring and ANAF cooling. PT100 sensors embedded in the LV coil, intelligent temperature controller, and cross-flow top-blowing cooling fans ensure safe, efficient operation and automatic thermal protection.
Temperature Control System

Temperature detection is performed through PT100 platinum resistance sensors embedded in the low-voltage coil during manufacturing. The sensors feed into an intelligent temperature controller that provides:
- Sequential detection and display of three-phase winding temperatures with fault self-diagnosis
- Hot-spot phase winding temperature value display
- Over-temperature alarm output (adjustable setpoint)
- Over-temperature trip output (adjustable setpoint)
- Black box function: automatic or timed fan start/stop
Optional functions: Analog current output/communication interface / additional iron core or ambient temperature detection point / additional pair of active output contacts / RS485 serial interface for centralized monitoring and computer integration.
Cooling fans are cross-flow top-blowing type, featuring low noise, high wind pressure, and compact aesthetics. Under ANAF forced-air cooling conditions, the transformer can operate continuously at 150% rated load for short periods.
EU Export Compliance — Phase Marking & CE Declaration

For dry-type transformers destined for European markets, Zhongxin General applies high-temperature resistant phase sequence and grounding markings using a custom laser-cut stencil and specialized paint rated for continuous service at temperatures exceeding 140 °C. This replaces conventional sharp metal identification plates and fully meets EU equipment safety requirements under the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) 2014/35/EU.
All 1250 kVA dry-type transformers for EU export are supplied with a CE Declaration of Conformity documenting compliance with:

Every 1250 kVA dry-type transformer manufactured by Zhongxin General undergoes a full programme of routine tests before leaving the factory. No unit is dispatched without a complete test report.

Export Packaging & Logistics


For international export, Zhongxin General uses a two-crate packaging solution developed through real export project experience:
- Crate 1 — Transformer body: Reinforced wooden crate with internal shock absorption, desiccant packets, tilt indicators, and fragile handling labels. ISPM 15 compliant.
- Crate 2 — Fans and accessories: Separate protective crate to prevent transit damage to cooling fan assemblies and loose accessories.
- Complete documentation package (test reports, operation manual, CE Declaration of Conformity, packing list) in a waterproof sleeve.
- Nitrogen-sealed tank and additional moisture protection available for long-distance sea freight.
Typical shipping dimensions (transformer body crate): approximately 2.4 m × 1.8 m × 2.1 m, total weight approximately 2,700 kg. Air freight and sea freight both supported.
