Why 6300 kVA Is a Different Class of Transformer
A 6300 kVA cast resin dry-type transformer is not simply a scaled-up version of a 1000 kVA or 2000 kVA unit. At this capacity, the engineering challenges multiply: the LV winding must reliably carry rated currents exceeding 9,000 A; the HV coil mass requires a vacuum casting process capable of producing void-free encapsulation across a significantly larger volume; and mechanical short-circuit withstand forces during fault conditions are an order of magnitude higher than at lower capacities.
This capacity class is the preferred choice for large data centres, industrial parks, new energy generation facilities, petrochemical plants, rail transit traction substations, and major commercial infrastructure projects — where power density, fire safety, and zero-maintenance operation over a 30-year service life are non-negotiable requirements.

Manufacturing Process
Low-Voltage Foil Winding & Demoulding


The low-voltage winding adopts a copper foil winding structure — wound by automatic foil winding machine and connected to the LV output copper busbars via argon-protected welding. This process achieves minimal contact resistance and is critical for reliable delivery of the very high rated LV current at 6300 kVA. At this capacity, demoulding requires a team of skilled technicians working in coordination to protect the dimensional integrity of the cured coil.
Initial Assembly & Inspection

Following winding and casting, a senior technician begins the initial assembly and inspection phase — verifying core-coil alignment, checking structural clamping torque, and making preliminary electrical connection inspections before the transformer enters final assembly.
HV & LV Winding Internal Detail

The internal configuration of the HV and LV winding coils reflects the engineering precision required at 6300 kVA. The HV winding is vacuum-cast with filled epoxy resin reinforced with glass fiber mesh plates on inner and outer walls — providing superior short-circuit withstand capability. The inter-winding clearance is designed and verified to IEC 60076-11 insulation level requirements.
HV Copper Busbar & Insulator Connections


At 6300 kVA, both high-voltage and low-voltage busbar connections are engineered to handle the full mechanical and thermal stresses of large-capacity operation. HV terminals are rated for 10 kV class service with appropriate creepage and clearance distances per IEC 60076-11. LV copper busbars are dimensioned for minimal resistive loss at high continuous current.
Temperature Control System

PT100 platinum resistance sensors are embedded in the LV coil windings during manufacturing. These feed into an intelligent temperature controller providing: three-phase winding temperature monitoring and display; over-temperature alarm and trip outputs; automatic fan start/stop; and optional RS485/Modbus communication for centralized monitoring integration. For a 6300 kVA unit operating in a critical industrial facility, this level of thermal visibility is essential.
Cooling Fan System

The ANAF cooling system uses cross-flow top-blowing fans with integrated QR codes for equipment traceability and specification lookup. Under forced-air cooling conditions, the transformer can sustain overload operation beyond nameplate capacity — a practical advantage in facilities with variable peak demand profiles.
Completed & Ready for Dispatch

Every 6300 kVA transformer leaving Zhongxin General’s factory has passed a complete routine test programme to IEC 60076-11 and GB/T 10228-2023. No unit is dispatched without a full test report.
