Manufacturing Process

The winding is the heart of any oil-immersed transformer. For the S13-M-200/10, the LV winding uses high-conductivity copper foil or round wire wound concentrically around the high-permeability silicon steel core limbs. The HV winding is wound on the outside of the LV coil, separated by oil-impregnated insulating paper and pressboard barriers. All inter-layer insulation is pre-dried and the complete core-and-coil assembly is vacuum oil-filled after tank enclosure.

The 200 kVA transformer iron core has been fully assembled at Zhongxin General’s Sichuan manufacturing facility.

The iron core uses cold-rolled grain-oriented silicon steel, cut and stacked with a five-stage full-oblique joint configuration to minimise no-load loss and no-load current. The completed core is surface-coated with epoxy resin for corrosion protection and noise reduction before the windings are installed.

Once the core is completed and the winding coils pass dimensional and resistance checks, the active part assembly begins. The coil sets are carefully lowered onto the core limbs, lead connections are made and insulated, and the complete active part is dried in a vacuum oven before tank insertion and oil filling.

The finished S13-M-200/10 transformer features a corrugated fin radiator tank — the corrugated wall design provides both structural rigidity and a large natural convection cooling surface, eliminating the need for separate radiator panels at this capacity. The oil conservator expansion tank on the top accommodates oil volume changes with temperature cycling and prevents moisture ingress.

Key Features

Low no-load loss and high energy efficiency. The S13-M-200/10 is produced to GB 20052-2024 Grade 3 as standard; Grade 1 and Grade 2 efficiency options are available. Grade 1 efficiency products meet or exceed the requirements of EU Commission Regulation (EU) No. 548/2014 and its 2019/1783 amendment — making them suitable for European market deployment without further modification.

Aluminium winding option available. As a manufacturing factory, Zhongxin General produces both copper-winding and aluminium-winding versions of the S13-M-200/10. Aluminium-winding units offer a cost advantage while meeting the same electrical performance and GB/IEC standard requirements. Winding material can be specified at order.

Outdoor-rated, sealed tank construction. The corrugated fin tank is fully welded and pressure-tested before oil filling. The ONAN cooling mode requires no external power, fans, or active cooling components — the transformer operates silently and maintenance-free throughout its service life.

Three-tap off-circuit tap changer. The standard ±5% off-circuit tap changer (positions I / II / III at 10,500V / 10,000V / 9,500V) allows voltage adjustment to match local grid conditions. Adjustment is made with the transformer de-energised. On-load tap changers (OLTC) are available as a special option.

Complete routine testing before dispatch. Every unit leaves the factory with a full test report covering winding resistance, voltage ratio and vector group, no-load loss and current, load loss and short-circuit impedance, and induced and separate-source AC withstand tests — all to IEC 60076 and GB 1094 standards.

Applicable Standards & Testing

Every 200 kVA oil-immersed transformer manufactured by Zhongxin General undergoes a full routine test programme before dispatch. No unit leaves the factory without a complete test report.

Routine tests (every unit): winding resistance measurement; voltage ratio and vector group verification; no-load loss and no-load current; load loss and short-circuit impedance; induced overvoltage withstand test; separate-source AC withstand test.

Type tests (reports available on request): temperature rise test; lightning impulse test.

Special tests (available on request): partial discharge measurement; sound level (noise) measurement; short-circuit withstand test.

All tests are conducted to IEC 60076 and GB 1094. Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) with client witness is supported.
