On the morning of June 3, 2026, Mr. Feng Zhenyu, President of the Tanzania Chinese Peaceful Reunification Association, and Mr. Gao Jian, Executive President of the Côte d’Ivoire Chinese Peaceful Reunification Association, paid a dedicated visit to Sichuan Zhongxin General Electric Energy Co., Ltd. at its headquarters in Xingjin District, Chengdu. The visit focused on in-depth discussions regarding the export of power distribution equipment to African markets.
The Zhongxin General team was represented by General Manager Zhang Shaokuan and the Head of the International Trade Department. Mr. Tang Hao, Standing Deputy Director of the Xingjin District United Front Work Department and Director of the District Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, also attended and joined the welcome reception.
How the Meeting Came About
The visit grew directly out of a high-level overseas Chinese business matchmaking event held the previous day at the Chengdu Century City International Convention Center — the “Overseas Chinese Helping a Thousand Enterprises Go Global: One-on-One Business Matching” forum. The event was jointly organised by the Economic and Technology Department of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce, the Sichuan Provincial Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and the Chongqing Municipal Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, with additional support from the China Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs Association and multiple Sichuan provincial departments.
It was at this forum that General Manager Zhang Shaokuan first met Mr. Feng and Mr. Gao. The three found immediate common ground on the subject of power infrastructure development in Africa and agreed on the spot to continue the conversation at Zhongxin General’s facility the following morning.
Products, Technology and Factory Tour
During the formal meeting, Mr. Feng and Mr. Gao shared their experiences of many years working and building businesses across Africa, and their insights into how Chinese enterprises can integrate effectively into local African economies. General Manager Zhang Shaokuan responded with a systematic presentation of Zhongxin General’s core products and technical capabilities, covering oil-immersed and dry-type transformers, HV/MV/LV switchgear, prefabricated substations, the company’s R&D and engineering team credentials, its quality assurance system, and the large-scale energy storage production base currently under construction and scheduled to begin operations by the end of 2026.
The formal meeting was followed by a factory tour, during which the delegation walked the production floor and saw Zhongxin General’s manufacturing capabilities first-hand — from transformer winding and core assembly through to switchgear enclosure fabrication. The entire exchange took place in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Outcomes and Next Steps
Mr. Feng Zhenyu spoke highly of the broader forum event organised by the Sichuan Provincial Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, praising its thoughtful planning and the calibre of the participating enterprises, which he felt gave a strong representation of the overall industrial strength of Chengdu, Sichuan, and Chongqing.
Deputy Director Tang Hao extended a warm welcome to both visiting leaders on behalf of the Xingjin District government and affirmed that both the district government and local enterprises stand ready to provide full supporting services for any cooperation that follows.
Both sides engaged in detailed discussion of next steps and reached a clear consensus on moving cooperation forward. Zhongxin General’s power distribution equipment — including oil-immersed transformers, dry-type transformers, switchgear, and prefabricated substations — is well-positioned for African grid infrastructure projects, where demand for reliable, cost-effective, and internationally certified electrical equipment continues to grow.
