The 2026 China Smart Energy Conference and New-Type Power System & Energy Storage Equipment Exhibition opened at the Chengdu Century City New International Convention Center, drawing more than 200 companies from across China’s energy supply chain. As a national-level “Little Giant” specialized-and-innovative enterprise headquartered in Chengdu’s Xinjin Economic Development Zone, Zhongxin General attended with a full-chain lineup — self-designed hardware, a digital dispatch platform, and integrated energy-operation services — built around three core lines: smart transformers, containerized energy storage equipment, and a city-level virtual power plant (VPP) dispatch platform.
A Booth Built Around Three Core Businesses
Zhongxin General’s booth presented, side by side, its digitally-monitored dry-type and oil-immersed transformers, packaged energy-storage systems, and the virtual power plant platform that ties them together. The layout was designed to walk visitors through the company’s full capability — from manufacturing on the factory floor in Xinjin to real-time dispatch in the cloud — in a single pass.
Meeting Domestic and International Buyers
A cross-functional team from R&D, sales and project operations staffed the booth throughout the show, fielding questions from grid companies, industrial park operators, renewable energy investors and EPC contractors. Chairman Li Xia and Deputy General Manager Xia Fawan spent much of the event walking domestic clients through the company’s product line and discussing project-level cooperation face to face.
International Delegations at the Conference
The wider conference drew an unusually international crowd this year. Alongside China’s major state-owned energy groups, the delegate lists included energy officials and technical representatives from across Asia and Central Asia — among them delegations connected to Thailand’s Ministry of Energy, the Asian Institute of Technology, the Asian Development Bank, and the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), together with energy-sector representatives from Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Nepal, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy. Many were in Chengdu specifically to explore sourcing for solar, wind, storage, smart grid and transmission projects back home — a good match for Zhongxin General’s export-ready product range.
Zhongxin General’s own booth reflected that international interest directly: overseas guests responded strongly to the company’s mature, standardized manufacturing base, and several asked to see the factory in person.
From the Show Floor to the Factory Floor: Hosting an Indian Delegation
One exchange went further than a booth conversation. Export manager Mr. Zhou, together with Deputy General Manager Xia Fawan, invited a visiting Indian client to tour Zhongxin General’s headquarters and several live project sites in Chengdu — a rare, close-up look at how the company’s transformers and storage systems actually get built and deployed.
The tour began at the Xinjin manufacturing base, where the Indian delegation walked the production line for transformers and energy storage equipment.
From there, the visit extended to Zhongxin General’s expanding footprint around Chengdu, starting with the Boruian New Energy site, still under construction and expected to complete by the end of the year.
The delegation then visited two live energy storage installations — first at the Fangxin Cold Rolling project, where a 10kV ring main unit sits behind the storage system.
and then at the Baixiang Food storage project, where four storage cabinets and a grid-connection cabinet were on display.
Transformers: Fully In-House, From Design to Test
Back on the show floor, the physical equipment zone put Zhongxin General’s self-developed dry-type and oil-immersed transformers on direct display — from residential and standard commercial/industrial ratings up to large industrial-duty units. Every unit shown is designed, manufactured and tested at the company’s own Xinjin plant, with no outsourced OEM production in the chain — a point that resonated with EPC contractors and power-procurement buyers asking about customization, lead times and batch delivery. The Centerpiece: A City-Level Virtual Power Plant Platform
The technical highlight of the booth was Zhongxin General’s self-developed city-level VPP dispatch platform, shown on a digital-twin visualization screen that tracked distributed solar, storage assets and flexible commercial/industrial loads in real time. Built on a proprietary AI dispatch algorithm, the platform aggregates and coordinates scattered energy resources across a region — supporting grid stability, helping enterprises optimize consumption, and putting idle distributed renewable assets to work. The project is also a finalist in Sichuan Province’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and it drew sustained interest from industry visitors throughout the show.
Energy Storage: Closing the Loop
Rounding out the booth, Zhongxin General displayed its standardized containerized storage units, complete commercial/industrial storage systems, and the supporting PCS converters and EMS energy-management software behind them. Paired with the VPP platform, the storage line forms a closed-loop system — “hardware storage plus cloud dispatch” — suited to industrial parks, commercial complexes and solar-plus-storage projects alike, and it was a consistent draw for renewable energy developers and investors on site.
Looking Ahead
Over three days, Zhongxin General’s team met a steady flow of industry experts, supply-chain partners and long-time clients, and ran a dedicated business-negotiation area for one-on-one project discussions covering transformer customization, storage builds and VPP integration. Backed by its High-Tech Enterprise, Provincial Enterprise Technology Center and Provincial Carbon-Neutral Achievement Transformation Base credentials, the company plans to keep pushing on new-type power systems, storage and virtual power plants — and welcomes partners to visit its Chengdu facility directly.
