On 19 October 2026, H.E. Oliver Wonekha, the Ugandan Ambassador to China to China, led a joint delegation to Sichuan Zhongxin General Electric Energy Co., Ltd. in Chengdu. The delegation included staff from the Ugandan Embassy in Beijing and the Consulate General in Guangzhou, and an urban planning expert from Lira City, Uganda. Both sides discussed power equipment manufacturing, export cooperation and China-Uganda cooperation in the power sector.
Showroom: a record of technical strength
The visit began in our showroom, where the delegation learned about the company’s development, technology and product portfolio, from transformers and switchgear to prefabricated substations and energy storage systems.
Factory tour: the full manufacturing process
The delegation then toured our dry-type and oil-immersed transformer lines, sheet metal workshop, switchgear workshop and prefabricated substation area. They saw the final assembly of a 5,250 kVA, 38 kV-class dry-type transformer for energy storage, the switchgear enclosure production area, and a compact prefabricated substation equipped with our own 400 kVA, 10/0.4 kV dry-type transformer.
Talks: supporting Uganda’s power infrastructure
During the meeting, our team presented our quality control, delivery management and export qualifications, and discussed how our transformers and complete power equipment can support Uganda’s grid development. Zhongxin General provides end-to-end export service, from technical consultation and solution design to production, delivery and after-sales support.
The Ambassador spoke of the long friendship between China and Uganda and the opportunities for investment and development in Uganda. She said electrical equipment is urgently needed there, and she expressed a warm invitation to Chinese power equipment companies to do business in Uganda. She also took an interest in the work of our women engineers, noting that Uganda wants to create more opportunities for professional women.
