Chengdu, China — July 29, 2026 — A delegation of faculty and students from the Leicester International Institute of Dalian University of Technology — one of China’s “Double First-Class” national key universities — visited Sichuan Zhongxin General Electric Energy Co., Ltd. this week as part of a summer social practice and technical exchange program. The visit was designed to strengthen ties between academic research and industrial practice, with both sides holding in-depth discussions on emerging topics such as new-type power systems and virtual power plants.

Technical Presentation: Powering the New-Type Power System

The exchange opened in the fourth-floor conference hall, where Zhongxin General’s chief technology officer delivered a presentation titled “Intelligent Energy, Green Future — How a Specialized, Innovative Enterprise Supports New-Type Power System Development.” The talk covered the company’s growth history, core product portfolio, and long-term roadmap for technological innovation.

Q&A: Bridging Theory and Manufacturing Practice

Following the presentation, students and faculty took part in an active question-and-answer session, raising questions related to their fields of study — including power equipment R&D processes, technical challenges in prefabricated substations and transformer design, and industry talent demand. Zhongxin General’s technical lead answered each question in detail, drawing on real project experience to connect classroom theory with on-the-ground manufacturing practice.

Virtual Power Plant and Digital Energy Management

The company’s Digital Division then gave a dedicated presentation on Zhongxin General’s virtual power plant (VPP) business and its energy digitalization management platform. The session covered VPP operating logic, adjustable-load dispatch models, and the design philosophy behind the platform — offering a comprehensive look at the company’s progress in smart energy digitalization.

Factory Tour: From Raw Material to Finished Product

After the conference session, the delegation toured Zhongxin General’s production workshops. Led by the head of the Production Department, the group moved along the production lines to view the manufacturing processes for transformers, sheet-metal structural components, integrated prefabricated substations, and complete switchgear assemblies — gaining a close, firsthand look at the full production chain, from raw material processing to finished product.

Mr. Zhou Shunyuan, Vice General Manager in charge of company-wide production management, personally guided part of the tour through the transformer and switchgear workshops.

Building a Platform for University-Enterprise Cooperation

This exchange established a stable and effective platform for cooperation between Zhongxin General and higher education. Looking ahead, the company will continue to deepen the integration of industry, academia, and research — helping translate frontier university research into real industrial applications — and will keep exploring new development paths in renewable energy and virtual power plants.

At the same time, Zhongxin General will continue expanding channels for university-enterprise talent exchange, actively recruiting outstanding young talent from universities, and working together to build a talent development system that supports the high-quality construction of China’s new-type power system.
