Project Snapshot

On July 14, 2026, Zhongxin General completed a distributed photovoltaic project for Sichuan China Tobacco’s Shifang cigarette factory. The system is now fully grid-connected. It’s part of a broader green energy push led by the New Energy Southwest Branch, which has been expanding solar infrastructure across Sichuan’s manufacturing sector.

System Overview

The project has four PV array points. Each point sends power through a combiner box and inverter. From there, it feeds into a dedicated box-type substation.

In total, the team installed four substations. Three are rated at 1,250 kVA. One is rated at 2,500 kVA. Each unit steps voltage up from 0.8kV to 10kV.

At the core of each substation is a self-manufactured SCB14 cast-resin dry-type transformer. This Class 2 energy-efficiency design holds up well under continuous industrial load. It also needs less maintenance than oil-immersed alternatives — a good fit for a factory environment.

Installation On-Site

Once the equipment reached the site, the team followed a well-tested sequence. Concrete foundations for the substations and prefab modules were poured in advance. This let each unit go straight into position by crane, with no delays.

The process was simple but precise. Rigging was secured to the lifting points on the substation base. The crane lifted the unit and moved it into place. Then it was fixed onto the foundation. Grid Connection and Monitoring

Two prefabricated modules sit downstream of the four substations. Together, they tie the whole system into the grid.

The first module houses the switchgear. It connects the plant to the State Grid at 10kV. Two separate access points give the system redundancy — if one connection needs maintenance, the other keeps things running.

The second module handles monitoring, protection, and control. It gives on-site staff real-time visibility into the system. That means problems get caught early, before they turn into downtime.

Final Checks Before Energization

Before the system went live, the Zhongxin General team ran a full round of checks. Engineers inspected every switchgear cabinet inside the prefab modules. Technicians reviewed the cabinet installation quality. Internal components were commissioned and tested to confirm everything was ready.

Project Scope

The client handled the PV panels, combiner cabinets, and inverters themselves. Zhongxin General was responsible for the transformers, box-type substations, and the full grid-connection package. This kind of split is common — and efficient — when factories work with a specialized power equipment supplier on distributed solar projects.
