Background: Power Infrastructure for a CATL Supply Chain Front-End Supplier
Sichuan Ruibai New Energy Materials Co., Ltd. is located in Yantan Town Industrial Park, Yantan District, Zigong City, Sichuan Province. The company specializes in the research, development, and production of new energy materials. As a front-end supplier to CATL’s battery supply chain, Sichuan Ruibai plays a critical role in providing upstream materials for the rapidly growing electric vehicle and energy storage markets.
With the continued expansion of the new energy vehicle and battery storage sectors, CATL and its supply chain partners are under increasing pressure to scale production capacity. In response, Sichuan Ruibai initiated an expansion project to increase output, optimize manufacturing processes, and strengthen its position in the new energy material supply chain.
Reliable electrical infrastructure is the foundation of modern chemical material production. Continuous production line operation, stable power supply for process equipment, and site-wide safety depend on high-performance HV/LV switchgear and transformers.
Zhongxin General was selected as the electrical equipment supplier for this expansion project, providing a complete 10kV power distribution system and dry-type transformer solution.
Scope of Supply: 22 KYN28-12 HV Switchgear Panels + 2 SCB18 Dry-Type Transformers
I. 22 × KYN28-12 10kV HV Switchgear Panels
The KYN28-12 is a metal-clad, air-insulated, withdrawable HV switchgear widely used in 10kV power distribution systems. Key features include:
- Metal-clad construction — Compartments separated into breaker, busbar, cable, and instrument sections, preventing fault propagation
- Withdrawable breaker design — VS1 vacuum circuit breaker can be easily rolled in/out for maintenance and replacement
- Interlocking system — Mechanical and electrical interlocks prevent misoperation, ensuring operator safety
- Smart monitoring interface — Supports microprocessor-based protection relays with communication for remote monitoring and automation

II. 2 × SCB18-1600/10.5 Cast Resin Dry-Type Transformers — Factory Tested to GB/T 10228-2023
The two SCB18-1600/10.5 dry-type transformers supplied for this project were manufactured in March 2026 and tested to the following standards:

These units meet China Tier 1 energy efficiency requirements under GB 20052-2024. The cast resin encapsulation (epoxy resin vacuum-cast process) eliminates partial discharge and provides superior dielectric strength, making them suitable for indoor installation in chemical and new energy material production environments where fire safety is critical.

III. Prefabricated Copper Busbars (Field Installation)
All connecting copper busbars between the switchgear panels and transformers were prefabricated, cut, bent, and tin-plated at the factory — eliminating on-site fabrication and significantly reducing installation time.

Dispatch Execution: April 1, 2026 — En Route to Zigong City
On April 1, 2026, 22 KYN28-12 HV switchgear panels and 2 SCB18 dry-type transformers (Ex-factory No. B260102, manufactured March 2026) were fully loaded, secured, and dispatched from Zhongxin General’s manufacturing facility. The convoy traveled by road to Yantan Town Industrial Park, Yantan District, Zigong City, Sichuan Province — approximately 200 km from the factory — with arrival expected on the same or following day.

Project Significance: Supporting the New Energy Power Industry
As a front-end supplier to CATL’s battery supply chain, Sichuan Ruibai’s production capacity directly affects the stability of upstream material supply for electric vehicle and energy storage batteries. The commissioning of this 22-panel KYN28-12 switchgear and 2-unit SCB18 transformer system (1600kVA each, 5.69% impedance, Dyn11 connection) will provide:
- Stable, reliable 10kV power distribution — Ensuring continuous production line operation and preventing costly downtime
- Energy-efficient transformer solution — SCB18 Tier 1 efficiency (GB 20052-2024) reduces electrical operating costs, aligning with green manufacturing principles
- Safe, fire-resistant electrical environment — Dry-type, oil-free transformers (IP20, cast resin) suitable for chemical material production, minimizing fire risk
- Smart-ready infrastructure — KYN28-12 panels support microprocessor relays and remote monitoring, enabling future automation upgrades
Once operational, this project will indirectly serve CATL’s new energy battery supply chain, providing upstream material support for electric vehicles and energy storage systems — thereby contributing to the new energy power industry as a whole.
